I think we set a record as far as continue as Knights of rock dance bands and that we went a little over 18 years continuous never missed a night through power failures and bomb scares. That’s over 7000 nights of live dance band rock music continuous. The last six or seven years we had two or three vans on Friday started music at 5 PM to pick up the Silicon Valley after work crowd. Eddie Money played the odyssey room every Sunday night for a year and I believe it was 72 his last night on Sunday I’d have to think back or research the date a little bit that Monday he went up to for an appointment with Bill Graham and sign his record deal he called me on Tuesday or Wednesday and said Gary I don’t think I’ll be coming back next Monday great guy used to visit with him at the bar every Sunday night six months later he was an opening at the show at the Colosseum for the Rolling Stones Bul Graham presents of course. An A+ recording of Sebastian Moon live at the Fillmore West in 1969 has surfaced on YouTube. All of the info on the reel box has been crossed out, so it took forensic style tactics to pull this info from the box. Date is listed as October 22, 1969. Chickenonaunicycle has this date listed as an audition night with 4 other acts listed. The story of how this surfaced is in the video description. Hope this helps and that y'all enjoy this incredible recording! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21HFOQwhGtAAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8015290367489085356.post-82076619533838866752024-01-19T09:44:50.206-08:002024-01-19T09:44:50.206-08:00What year did Salt and Pepper play, do you recall?...What year did Salt and Pepper play, do you recall?Corry342https://www.blogger.com/profile/08049035074121231425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8015290367489085356.post-49768163620935978022024-01-18T23:25:41.605-08:002024-01-18T23:25:41.605-08:00I was the lead female singer in a band called Salt...I was the lead female singer in a band called Salt and Pepper! Much of that time is a fog for me, however I do remember one night after the club opened that Led Zeppelin showed up and jammed, afterwards the club turned into an organised of sorts. Really wild.
The club was pretty basic, and had bleachers in the back. Do remember Marshall was always making food, but not commercially, free for the visitors and musicians. He was a large friendly man that was always talking about his ideas. Jimi Hendrix did indeed visit Thee Experience but only as a guest. I imagine the club closed because Marshall was too generous and more interested in making the scene, also the location was down the far end of the Strip and not everyone would go that far.
Great times while it lasted.
RIP Marshall Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8015290367489085356.post-37538769536410902712024-01-09T10:31:38.312-08:002024-01-09T10:31:38.312-08:00i was 16 years old in 1970 i grew up with my gran...i was 16 years old in 1970 i grew up with my grandparents and we had no money for concerts only for essentials, not proud to say say this but i would sneak to shows at Mammoth until security blocked all areas. i was hanging out in the alley with a hippie smoking a joint he asked if i was going to the show , i told him about my dilemma . he said stay right here i will back. he went into the venue came back got me in back stage the security told me stay on side of the stage. that Hippie was Jim Keltner drummer for Joe Cocker mad dogs and English man’s tour , the other drummer was Jim Gordon Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8015290367489085356.post-62744699964210098272024-01-08T10:53:35.872-08:002024-01-08T10:53:35.872-08:00i was there i was 11 yrs old my father was friends...i was there i was 11 yrs old my father was friends with the group of them - chet and the youngbloodsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8015290367489085356.post-86338344077326409072023-12-31T07:32:17.515-08:002023-12-31T07:32:17.515-08:00Nice write up about the club. https://www.newspape...Nice write up about the club. https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-times-iii-of-cups/137628503/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8015290367489085356.post-71369120941030690452023-12-30T19:26:54.142-08:002023-12-30T19:26:54.142-08:00God I had no idea about this club.
